"Synthesis and study of a composite based on an organometallic compound (MOF) for its use as an anode material in sodium-ion batteries” (IRN AP09058322)
Project goal:
To develop a method for the synthesis of a MOF composite as an anode material with high electrical conductivity, capacity and strength for its further use in Na-ion batteries; investigate electrochemical processes on it and develop a charge transfer model.
results achieved:
  1. The synthesis of the organometallic compound ZnMOF by the hydrothermal method was reproduced according to a previously published method.
  2. X-ray diffraction analysis of the synthesized substance was carried out, followed by refinement of the structure using the Rietveld method, and its thermal stability was also studied.
  3. An anode composite based on ZnMOF and a conductive additive (TIMICAL SUPER C45) was obtained.
  4. Electrochemical processes of intercalation/deintercalation of cations into the structure of the resulting material were studied using highly concentrated electrolytes based on sodium and potassium salts. It was found that alkaline electrolytes cause destruction of the synthesized material, while its stability was demonstrated in a saturated solution of sodium perchlorate.
  5. Effective diffusion coefficients were determined using cyclic voltammetry, which show the high mobility of sodium ions in the solid phase.
