“Establishment of the mechanism of influence of modifying coatings of the active material of the cathodes of sodium-ion batteries on the kinetics of intercalation” (IRN AP09260371)
Project goal:
Identification of the influence of the properties of the modifying surface coating of poorly conducting particles of the cathode active material on the processes of charge transfer through it during reversible intercalation of the material phase, as well as the development of a model of this process and its simulation.
Достигнутые результаты:
  1. Sulfate and fluorophosphate cathode materials were synthesized, which, according to X-ray phase analysis, are compounds of the required composition and structure. The influence of the substituting ion on the parameters of the crystal cell was established.
  2. The synthesized materials were characterized by cyclovoltammetry and galvanostatic cycling. It was found that without pre-treatment with conductive additives, these materials show rather low electrochemical activity, which is due to their poor conductivity.
  3. The methodology for preparing synthesized cathode materials for electrochemical studies was optimized. By varying the main grinding parameters (mixing duration, speed, size of the glass and balls, dispersed medium), a cathode material with an average particle size of 1.3 μm was obtained. The optimal parameters for the process of homogenization of the components of the cathode mixture were established.
  4. It was found that increasing the mixing time of the components of the cathode mixture (up to 10 hours) increases the degree of homogenization, which in turn has a significant impact on the electrochemical characteristics of charge and discharge, since it ensures the complete involvement of all particles in the electrochemical process and provides sufficient power by reducing polarization.
  5. The diffusion coefficients and resistance values ​​of the synthesized samples were determined using the cyclovoltammetry method.
