Applicator
A thin film applicator is a high-precision device designed to uniformly distribute liquid or paste materials over a substrate surface with precisely controlled layer thickness. It works on the principle of uniform movement of a squeegee or other distribution element over the surface of the substrate, often called Doctor Blade, while the material is applied at a given speed and at a strictly defined angle, which ensures high uniformity and accuracy of film thickness.

In the field of battery research and production, such a device is necessary for the creation of spreadable electrodes, where uniform application of the electrode paste to the surface of the substrate is critical. The accuracy and uniformity of paste application directly affect the electrochemical characteristics of the future battery.

In our laboratory, the MSK-AFA-III device is used to deposit thin films. A special feature of this applicator is the presence of a vacuum table, which ensures reliable adherence of the substrate to the working surface, eliminating its displacement during application of the material. In addition, the device is equipped with a heated lid, which allows you to simultaneously dry the smeared electrode. This greatly simplifies the electrode preparation process and speeds up the production cycle, ensuring high efficiency and quality of the final product.
