An ion meter is a laboratory instrument designed to measure the concentration of certain ions in solutions. This instrument is widely used in chemistry, biology, medicine, ecology and other scientific and industrial fields for the analysis of water, soil, biological fluids and industrial solutions. Ionomers are essential for monitoring water quality, studying electrolytes, monitoring environmental pollution, and optimizing technological processes in various industries.
The operating principle of the ion meter is based on measuring the electrochemical potential, which depends on the concentration of specific ions in the solution. It is based on the use of ion-selective electrodes that can respond to the presence of specific ions. The electrode is immersed in the test solution, and the concentration of target ions is determined by the change in potential.
Ionomers have high sensitivity and specificity, allowing accurate determination of ions even at very low concentrations. Thanks to this, they have found wide application not only in scientific research, but also in industrial monitoring, medical diagnostics and environmental control. The importance of ionomers in modern science and technology cannot be overestimated, since they provide the necessary accuracy and reliability of data for a wide range of applications. In addition to specialized ion measurements, ionomers are used to determine the pH level of solutions, which is one of the most important characteristics in chemistry, biology, medicine and ecology. The pH level indicates the acidity or alkalinity of a solution, which is critical to understanding the chemical processes occurring in the system.
Our laboratory uses I-160MI ionomers. Ionomer I-160MI is a modern device for potentiometric measurements of pH, pH (where X is Cl-, Br, SO42-, K+, Na+, Li +, etc.) and redox potential (E) of solutions. This device combines functionality and convenience thanks to its compact one-piece design, which includes a measuring transducer. I-160 is equipped with a coded digital interface RS-232 and an analog output, which expands its functionality and makes it easy to integrate the device into existing laboratory and production systems. One of the significant advantages of the I-160 ion meter is its versatility and compatibility with various types of ion-selective and pH electrodes, both imported and domestically produced. Automatic processing and display of measurement results in all known units of concentration makes working with the device as convenient and efficient as possible.
