Muffle furnaces are high-temperature furnaces that are used for heat treatment of materials for research and industrial purposes. They are capable of reaching very high temperatures, making them ideal for processes such as combustion, annealing, materials synthesis, and thermal testing and processing. Muffle furnaces provide uniform heating and tight temperature control in a closed chamber, which is critical to the accuracy of experimental results.
In our laboratory, muffle furnaces are used primarily for the synthesis of new electrode materials (but not only!). This is a key process in the development of energy storage devices with new electrode materials, where precise thermal conditions are required to obtain the desired chemical and physical properties of the synthesized materials.
Our laboratory has three muffle furnaces, each of which has its own unique characteristics:
1.SNOL 10/1300 LSM01 is a high-precision electric muffle furnace designed for materials testing and heat treatment such as hardening, tempering and normalizing of ceramic and porcelain stoneware samples up to 1300°C. An additional exhaust system can be installed in the furnace to remove gases or fumes released during the heat treatment process. This kiln is ideal for scientific laboratories, educational institutions, ceramic studios, medicine and industry.
2.Barnstead Thermolyne 48000 – Features exposed heating elements on both sides of the chamber for fast heating with minimal temperature gradient. Ceramic insulation ensures maximum energy efficiency. The ceramic door effectively minimizes heat loss. A safety switch on the door cuts off power to the heating elements when the door is opened. Built-in ventilation system removes contaminants and moisture.
3.The SAFTherm STQ-8-12 1600 C is the most advanced furnace in our arsenal and supports the introduction of a variety of gases into the chamber, such as nitrogen, argon, hydrogen, oxygen (and other gases and mixtures thereof), which are critical for the heat treatment of carbon materials , metals and biomass. The furnace body has a flanged sealed design, which allows heat treatment to be carried out in a protective atmosphere. The oven is equipped with high quality heating elements on both sides, which ensures good temperature uniformity in the oven. Multi-layer insulation of lightweight aluminum ceramic fiber board and other high-quality insulation materials provides low heat loss and low energy consumption, while containing no asbestos components. Programmable temperature set with many settings (heating, holding speed, heating speed, cooling). Temperature range from 400 to 1600 °C.
