Yaroslav Svyatoslavovich Zhigalenok is a PhD candidate at al-Farabi Kazakh National University and a junior researcher (h-index 5, Researcher ID: NRX-9160-2025; Scopus ID: 57862139800; ORCID ID: 0000-0003-1452-1248).
He is the author of 8 scientific publications in peer-reviewed Q1–Q3 level journals (Web of Science). In 2022, he defended his Master's thesis on the study of corrosion processes in lithium-metal batteries. He served as the lead performer on the scientific project "Development of an innovative aqueous electrolyte for high-energy metal-ion batteries" (IRN AP14871970), funded by the Science Committee of the Ministry of Higher Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
His scientific interests include fundamental research into the kinetics and thermodynamics of advanced energy storage systems, including metal-ion batteries, highly concentrated aqueous electrolytes (water-in-salt), and hydrogen production processes. He specializes in the study of photochemical and photoelectrochemical phenomena in semiconductor materials, as well as the development of catalytic processes and wastewater treatment technologies.
In his work, he actively applies an interdisciplinary approach, combining experimental methods with computer modeling (finite element method) and data analysis (Data Science).
